Essential Service
In the UAE, health insurance is not a preference — it is a precondition of the residence visa. Without a valid policy, the visa does not complete.

From a minimum policy for the visa to comprehensive family and team cover.
UAE nationals are covered by government-backed programmes. Foreign residents access healthcare through private insurance. Public cover varies by emirate and generally includes emergencies, preventive services, immunisation, maternity and basic primary care. Laser vision correction, hearing and vision aids and dental examinations are typically outside it.
Must know
A policy meeting the minimum standards is enough for your residence visa application. But minimum policies carry low limits and high co-payments. If the cover extends to your family, choose it around your actual needs rather than around the visa requirement.
